Teacher Appreciation Week: Vanessa from Cristo Rey

In honor of Teachers Appreciation Week (May 8-12), our student Vanessa shares why her teacher, Ms. Guardino has had a special impact on her time at Cristo Rey High School

As we reflect on Teacher’s Appreciation Week, it is important to remember that every day we should honor the time, hard work, patience, and understanding that our teachers consistently show. Helping to shape future generations, their dedication to education does not go unnoticed.

Vanessa, a current SSP student at Cristo Rey New York High School, shares her appreciation for her biology teacher, Ms. Guardino.

“Ms. G cares about our feelings. She doesn’t like it when a student bothers another if the student feels uncomfortable since it can affect how they are in class and bring their grade down for things they didn’t do. I feel like not many people see why we need teachers and just ask how the subject can help us in our future career.”

“Teachers also care about helping the students’ grades and showing that they can achieve whatever they want to do in life. Not only are teachers helpful in that, but both students and teachers can create a bond, a friendship that will last a lifetime and can even help with things outside of school like advice and college things to look out for.”

Thank you to the teachers who act as mentors to help make a difference in their students’ lives!
