SOPHOMORES & JUNIORS

We strongly encourage all sophomores and juniors to take the PSAT/NMSQT and PSAT10 practice tests!

JUNIORS

 

College Prep

Students can register for our College Admissions Consulting course during the fall of their junior year. You will learn important information for successfully applying to college, including:

  • A match, reach, and target college list
  • CUNY, SUNY, and private college admission applications
  • Eligibility research for opportunity programs and scholarships
  • Personal college essay
  • Mock college interviews

 

SAT Prep Course

Juniors have the opportunity to enroll in an intensive free SAT Prep course during the winter/spring semesters. This includes:

  • SAT instruction on a weekly basis for approximately three months from the Ivy Key’s skillful instructors
  • Individualized support designed to meet student needs and result in improved overall SAT scores
  • Three mock tests and in-depth analyses of results
  • A 2-hour college admissions consulting class at the end of the course

 

SAT Prep Free Online Resources 

  • Students who are unable to participate in the SAT Prep course and those who want extra practice can prep online at Khan Academy.

SENIORS

College Best Fit and Application Process

Student Sponsor Partners offers one-on-one college application counseling and “best fit” analysis workshops. The workshops cover key components of the college application process such as developing a “best fit” college list, writing a strong college essay, and completing college and financial aid applications (FAFSA).

Essentials

  • The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is an online application students and parents are required to complete to qualify for financial aid in college. The application is the first step in the financial aid process. You will use the FAFSA to apply for federal student aid such as grants, work-study, and loans.
  • The New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) helps qualifying New York residents pay college tuition at approved colleges in New York State.
  • The CSS/Financial Aid Profile is an online application required by almost 300 colleges and scholarship programs for financial aid.
