Debra De Jesus-Vizzi, MSW, LCSW

Executive Director and SSP Alumna

Debra De Jesus-Vizzi joined Student Sponsor Partners as Executive Director in March 2018, but her relationship with SSP began long before then. As one of the first students to receive a scholarship from SSP’s founder, Peter Flanigan, she experienced firsthand the transformative power of a quality education and a caring mentor, a legacy she now works every day to extend to the next generation of students.

Throughout her career, Debra has devoted herself to creating opportunities for children and families facing barriers of poverty, instability, and inequity. She is widely regarded as a compassionate and visionary leader in the fields of child welfare, education, and poverty and has been recognized with numerous honors, including the New Jersey Humanitarian Award from CASA and a Distinguished Alumna Award from the State University College at Buffalo. Most recently, she was named to City & State New York’s “Fifty Over 50” list, highlighting her impact as one of New York State’s top leaders.

A licensed clinical social worker, Debra holds a master’s degree in social work (MSW) from Rutgers University and a bachelor’s degree from the State University College at Buffalo. She also pursued doctoral studies in social work at the University of Southern California, further deepening her expertise and commitment to advancing social and educational reform.
