First of all, I want to thank everyone from GIP and SSP who made the Virtual Career Day on Tuesday, July 14 both fun and interesting. Thank you to the GIP members who took time out of their day to be with us and share their experiences. This event was definitely unique because it had to be online, but despite the fact that it was virtual, the interaction and the knowledge gained was significant for all of us students.

In addition to learning a lot from the speakers, the main takeaway for me was that we should try new things because what you least expect to like or do for your career might be what you end up loving. Sometimes we get caught up and stressed out by trying to plan our lives perfectly or sometimes we worry because we don’t know what we want to do in college, but this point reassured me that things will work out if I keep an open mind.

Moreover, I also learned that we have to welcome all opportunities that come our way because sometimes we think that we have everything planned out and end up ignoring the new opportunities that can change our lives for the better. No matter what we do in college, we have to love it and really enjoy our career path.

Also, when we get to college, we should aim to make connections through internships that might help us after college. Even if the internship is not related to one’s major, it can help with getting a job in the future. As for choosing a college, it’s important to feel comfortable at the school because it’s going to be our home for the next four years.

In conclusion, I want to thank GIP and SSP for taking their time and organizing this event and sharing tips for us to be better in life and know that it is OK (and normal) to not know what we want to do now.
