SSP was thrilled to partner with the Life Insurance Council of New York as they launched the Talent Incubator Program this summer. Over two weeks in August, 15 SSP juniors and seniors visited member companies to explore careers in the insurance industry.
The program was envisioned as an early exposure program to allow high school students to explore potential careers in the insurance industry. It aims to provide students with professional development opportunities while gaining practical knowledge on job interviews, résumé writing, personal branding, effective leadership/communication, and overcoming adversity.
During the two weeks, our students had the opportunity to interact with LICONY board members and senior executives from member companies who provided the students with first-hand perspectives from their professional experiences. Our students met with executives and staff at MetLife, National Benefit Life, TIAA (Nuveen), Equitable, ShelterPoint, New York Life, Corebridge, Allianz, and The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America.
"The Talent Incubator Program focuses on two goals: to educate student participants on careers in the insurance industry, and to provide youth with professional development opportunities," said Francine Chew, Head of Corporate Impact at Guardian and LICONY Chair of the Charitable Giving Committee, who organized the program. "I am delighted to see the initial success of LICONY's new program."
