Julio, a rising senior at Mount St. Michael Academy, spent part of the summer traveling to Japan. It was a unique experience where he was able to explore an unfamiliar culture, advanced technologies, and different religions.
"My experience in Japan was one like no other," Julio recalled. "I had an amazing, enjoyable experience that I’d never forget, and surely plan on visiting back in the future!"
A trip across the country was a once in a lifetime opportunity that would not have been possible without the generosity of his sponsor, Michael Brandmeyer. Julio, a Bronx native, was able to gain multiple perspectives by immersing himself in a place that is so starkly different from what he is used to.
"The people there are so nice and quick to help, and the streets and areas are clean and appealing," Julio said. "Not only that, but the technology is so much more advanced than it is here in America. There’s so many differences and wonderful things I saw that I’d never look over."
