Meet Mentor Nate Moore: “Mentoring Jayden Has Given Perspective to My Life”

Nate Moore is one of Student Sponsor Partners (SSP)’s newest mentors. A young professional who works at Piper Sandler, a leading investment bank, he recalls the day he received an internal memo from the company regarding mentorship possibilities with SSP. Nate inquired about the volunteer opportunity and was soon paired with Jayden, a student at La Salle Academy, one of SSP’s partner schools.

At their first meeting, in October of 2025, Nate and Jayden spent time at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. “It was great getting to know Jayden, and we found a lot of pieces throughout the museum that related to what he was learning in class,” Nate noted. “As a ninth-grader, he showed far more sophistication in a museum than I would have at his age.” The pair recently visited another museum and look forward to a meal together for their next outing.

Having moved to New York City for the first time six months ago, for work reasons, Nate said that mentoring Jayden has given perspective to his life: “I felt quite siloed in the world of finance. Getting to spend time with Jayden has opened my eyes to much more about the city and the people who live here. He helps me think outside of my narrow-minded tendencies. It has been a pleasure getting to know someone as positive and energetic as Jayden.”
