Nicholas, a new member of SSP's Class of 2026, will be attending Mount Saint Michael Academy starting this fall. He said he is most excited about the many options he has for extracurricular activities. He intends to join the basketball and soccer teams, pursue chess, and explore visual arts. Nicholas speaks with eager anticipation on the opportunities he now has to explore what he enjoys doing outside of classes.
When asked about his goal for high school, he responded that he wants to work to improve his thinking. Nicholas aims to get top grades, be ready for college, and make his family proud. In middle school, Nicholas said, he learned to help take care of his little brother while getting better at almost every subject. He intends to do the same in high school.
Not only is Nicholas excited to dive into academics and extracurricular programs, but he is also eager to meet his mentor. His mother has a mentor of her own, so he has seen and appreciates the role a mentor can hold. He says, "I'm going to keep in touch with them . . . having a mentor is like having a cheat sheet for life."
Nicholas said his parents taught him everything he knows. He describes the work ethic and support of his father as inspiring him to always strive for better. Nicholas says, "[my dad] says this one quote to me that I always remember, he says not to be a follower, but a leader."
