Mia, a new member of the Class of 2026, is eager to join Preston High School in the fall. She is “excited to meet new people and experience new things.”
Though Mia feels ready for her new phase of growth, she spends time reflecting on what has affected her readiness. Mia says the pandemic has particularly influenced her ability to feel independent and grateful: “I learned to appreciate things more since I lost a lot of 6th grade and all of 7th grade in-person class time because of quarantine. I also learned to do my own thing and to not just follow others.”
When she is not studying or spending time with friends, Mia enjoys playing sports and intends to continue playing baseball and soccer at Preston. Outside of school she enjoys watching Netflix and playing Roblox.
As for the extracurricular activities and new experiences, she is “looking forward to having somebody help [her] learn about the real world throughout [her] four years of high school.” Inspired by others she admires, Mia cannot wait to have a mentor! Currently, Mia looks up to Tracy Tutor, “she is a luxury real estate agent on Million Dollar Listing LA. She is a really smart, bold and a great businesswoman in a male-dominated field.”
We are excited to pair Mia with her mentor and watch as she thrives at Preston!
