Eugene, a new member of the Class of 2026, is ready to enter St. Raymond High School for Boys this fall. He says that what he is most looking forward to is a new sense of independence and the chance to grow. Making new friends and more rigorous science classes are among the areas Eugene is looking forward to. He mentioned his particular excitement for science experiments!
Going to St. Raymond is also meaningful for Eugene because he is following in the footsteps of his older brother who is graduating this spring from St. Raymond and will be attending Mount Saint Vincent College in the fall. Eugene says that he will bring his little brother to school as he attends St. Raymond as well, continuing a cycle of reaching for quality education.
Once in high school, Eugene plans to try out for the track team and is even considering ways to explore video game design. He has two friends in Student Sponsor Partners already who he enjoys playing games with and, he suspects, between his enjoyment of writing stories and playing games, they would be able to collaborate and make something new and creative together.
Longing to grow and being willing to pursue new and creative goals are typical of Eugene. His aptitude for harmonica, for example, came simply from finding the instrument at a store one day. Eugene said, “it’s much easier than you'd think, I just sat there for an hour watching videos on how you play it, and then I could play.” Eugene brought out his harmonica and led a brief lesson, reassuring SSP readers that it is always possible to grow and learn if you have curiosity and follow your passions. His openness to meet new people, and his eagerness to explore his interests and find news ones, makes Eugene ready for what is ahead!
